An excellent story told from the perspective of a 12-year-old girl growing up in a rural farming community where a Japanese internment camp is built during WWII. Think “Scout” in To Kill a Mockingbird learning about a different kind of racism when a murder happens in town. Tallgrass was a real camp and the historical references are a fascinating part of the story.
