I just got back from 10 days in Ireland. As a tourist, the only way to check email is to go to a Computer Cafe and spend - are you ready- 4 euros ($6 with the present exchange rate) for 15 minutes. Yow!
Be very grateful that in the USA, the public libraries provide FREE internet use to patrons and travelers alike. Land of the free!

wow…six bucks for fifteen minutes! I guees it’s pretty cool that servce is provided for free by our library and Verizon in Tamworth!
Actually, Verizon has no part in it. It’s a TimeWarner connection cable modem connection, provided to the library as part of the company’s contract to provide cable to (some of) the town. There are still large portions of Tamworth where high-speed Internet is not available except at a very high price. In a time when schoolkids are expected to be able to access sophisticated websites to do their research, and seniors are offered essential information at AARP and Medicare sites that take hours to load over a dial-up connection, the library’s service is essential!
